For many people, big home cinema systems are indispensable for a great in-house experience when watching movies. However, there are also disadvantages: home cinema systems are often complicated, take up a lot of space and create a clutter of cables. A sound bar is the ideal solution. People for whom convenience is at the top of their priority list, think Bose. Bose Lifestyle 135 to be exact.
Just like numerous other audio brands, Bose comes with its own sound bar. The Bose Lifestyle 135 is one of the most advanced home entertainment systems, consisting out of a speaker array, a wireless subwoofer, a multimedia console and a programmable universal remote. Is this system worth the €2699 that Bose asks for it? Let’s find out!
Bose Lifestyle 135 design and finishing
After opening the giant packaging of your new Bose Lifestyle 135 , the black speaker array (the sound bar itself) is shining on top. With a weight of 3,5 kg and dimensions of 12,4 cm (h) x 93,5 cm (b) x 6,1 cm (d), the bar perfectly fits under a TV of around 42 inch (or more) and can easily be attached to a wall or wall bracket. The sound is automatically adjusted so that the sound bar can be placed both horizontally as vertically under your TV. The subwoofer is fairly compact and has a matte black finish, unlike the speaker array, which consists mostly of shiny black plastic. Belonging to these two components is the control console which provides all inputs and outputs. The console has an elegant design and looks like a sleek media player. A shutter is provided at the front. Behind this shutter you will find six control buttons and some connections like HDMI and USB input or an output for your headphones.
A screen is nowhere to be found, but Bose delivers its Lifestyle 135 with a stout remote with a small information screen on which all necessary data is displayed. The remote comes with four AA batteries which makes the remote fairly heavy. Luckily the remote is comfortable to hold and the buttons are exactly there were you want them. At the top you will find the source button, which allows you to quickly switch between various audio and video sources and, in addition to the regular buttons, playback buttons for media are also available.Â
